Beauty trends on Instagram often have one thing in common: colour. Whether it's iridescent highlighters, sunset eyes or glossy lids, beauty never shies away from bold shades and a dose of individuality. Next up? Colourful eyelashes, 2017's take on the '60s look, with neon, primary and electric shades leading the way.
Last season, colourful lashes were seen on the catwalks of AW17, with Pucci's lead makeup artist Inge Grognard coating lashes in green, white, blue, pink and orange mascara. YSL also championed the trend earlier this year with the relaunch of their Vinyl Couture mascara in nine new shades, ranging from emerald green to vibrant fuchsia and royal blue.

London-based makeup artist Anne Sophie Costa uses 3ina to create this pretty in pink look. Keep it simple by leaving the eyelids bare, highlighting the inner corners of your eyes with The Cream Eyeshadow 300 and finishing off with The Colour Mascara 104, before a swipe of pink lipstick.
First seen at Stella McCartney back in 2012, colourful lashes have since had an AW17 revival at Pucci, where lead artist Inge Grognard put audacious lashes front and centre. Leave skin fresh and eyelids bare to let the lashes do the talking. We're digging NYX's Colour Mascara in Purple.

More colourful lashes seen at Pucci during Milan Fashion Week. We're applying several layers for a clumpy '60s look, but leaving eyeliner out so the lashes steal the show. Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Couture Mascara in I'm The Excitement is a rich serpent green that suits every eye colour.
Switch it up completely with a healthy coating of white mascara. Pair with peach and brown earth-hued eyeshadows, cheek-defining bronze and a strong lip so the mascara doesn't overpower the rest of your face and has something to contrast with. Ignore those who say red and pink should be avoided on eyes. This hot fuchsia shade looks incredible with blue or green eyes, and is otherworldly when worn alone or with pink shadow. We love Sigma Embellish Lash Mascara in Pink.
A softer take on the trend, this baby blue cat flick looks like a '60s dream with matching mascara. Take inspiration from 2016's The Love Witch, which has had us perfecting our sky-blue eyes since first watching. IsaDora's Waterproof Mascara Extra Volume in Ocean Blue is our pick of the bunch.
Why stick to just one colour? Loud and proud, rainbow lashes are daring, extravagant and the most Instagrammable of all. Load up each section of lashes with varying colours, or paint your false lashes before applying.
